A new year is here which means the season is just around the corner. In order to keep you connected, we will be emailing frequent newsletters, posting on social media, and updating info at 4pll.org. To start off the 2020 season, we are excited to introduce your 4PLL Community Team!
Rosalie Godfrey is a mom of 5 active boys who play baseball in Four Peaks. She is a native of Mesa and loves the smell of orange blossoms in the spring. She graduated from NAU and earned her master’s in Education Administration from ASU. She volunteers at her boys' schools, is a leader in cub scouts, and is actively involved in her church. Rosalie and her family have been in Four Peaks for seven years and she loves this community. She has helped as a team parent, scorekeeper, league secretary, and with pictures and uniforms. When she is not at the ball field, she loves working with her fruit trees, relaxing with a good book or movie, and playing games as a family.
Chad Smith and his son will start their 3rd year in Four Peaks Little League this spring.Chad is a native of California and a transplant to Mesa.He is currently the Principal of Pinnacle High School in North Phoenix.He graduated from the University of Utah with a Bachelor’s of Science in Urban Planning and the University of Southern California with a Master’s of Planning Degree and a Doctorate in Educational Leadership.He has been a high school football coach, basketball coach, track coach and a little league baseball coach, football coach, and soccer coach.
Jamie Vasquez is excited to serve on the Four Peaks team. She has handled photos and uniforms and was the concessions coordinator. Jamie earned a bachelor’s degree in Finance from the University of Colorado and is currently a senior-level Human Resources Analyst for a municipal government. She is married to her high school sweetheart, and they have two children who are very active in school and sports. Her son films/edits Ishikawa Elementary News and plays baseball, football, and volleyball. Her daughter is in the Stapley Junior High honor choir and plays volleyball, soccer, and softball. When she is not at work, driving to and from practice, cheering for her children at games, and earning her master’s degree, she enjoys playing volleyball and creating DIY home décor.
Markell Staffieriis a former NFL Linebacker and minor league baseball player who has a passion for teaching life lessons through youth sports.He is a transplant to Mesa of 5 years, but has loved what this community has done to support the growth of his 5 children.Markell graduated from Brigham Young University and now owns and operates a national investment management firm, Rovin Capital.He believes that there is no better foundation to have in life than playing little league baseball.It builds the community friendships.Little League teaches kids a) how to work through hard challenges, b) how to be patient, c) that failures and mistakes are ok as long as we learn from them and keep trying.When he is not coaching kids, he’s off on adventures with his family in the outdoors.
Chad Curtisis a native to the Northeast Mesa area. He went to Hermosa Vista Elementary, Stapley Junior High, and Mountain View High School. He grew up playing youth sports in the area and can still remember switching from Mesa Eastern Little League to Four Peaks Little League when the league was first formed. He played football at Mt.View and went on to play for NAU where he completed his undergraduate education. Chad is a dentist by trade, but his true joy comes from spending time with his wife and 5 kids at the ball fields. There is no place he would rather be.
Cort Welkeris a dad of 5 amazing children. His three sons have played or still play in Four Peaks Little League.He has been affiliated with the league since 2013 when his oldest son started playing Minors little league. Since then, he has had the privilege of coaching at both the Minors and Majors level. He has enjoyed being a part of this league coaching his sons and looks forward to many more years to come.
Mandy Burris a Technology Specialist with the City of Scottsdale.She coordinates and manages the space for city employees and departments including updating and scheduling preventative maintenance for facilities.She attended Eastern Illinois University where she earned her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Graphic Design.5 years ago, Mandy and her family moved from Minneapolis to Mesa.They currently live in Lehi Crossings and both of her sons attend Ishikawa Elementary. Her boys have been playing baseball since they were toddlers, with Jason (dad) as their coach. When they are not playing games or having practice, Mandy and her family enjoy watching movies, playing board games, hanging out with friends, and enjoying Arizona.
Jimmy Otten grew up watching his father pitch for the Cardinals and White Sox, until they moved to Arizona in 1981. His son has been playing baseball in Four Peaks for 3 years and his daughter swims in the MAC program at Kino Jr. High. Currently, he is the technologies division manager of a telecom contractor. He is in charge of staying on top of technologies for his company and making sure that as a company they are ahead of the curve with everything from data center construction to constructing small cell sites fora variety of clients including Amazon, all major cell phone providers, and Cox Communications.
